French Prune box label








This produce crate label was used by Santa Clara Valley Fruit & Produce Co., San Jose, California.  Image of woman in Egyptian headdress.  Looks to be Claudia Colbert who played Cleopatra in the 1920's movie. Printed in the 1930s.

For many years the largely agricultural Santa Clara County was known as "The Valley of Heart's Delight." The apricots were prepared with sulphur dioxide and packed by the Richmond-Chase Company of San Jose.
